18:38: A Self Portrait
60" x 48"
This mosaic contains caps I collected between the ages of 18 and 38—whether from my own consumption, the bartending jobs I held, or donations from people all over the world. Every bottle cap within 18/38 was intentionally selected to preserve a moment in time. A “1987” cap represents the year I was born; “2017” marks the year I married my wife; and “100% Saskatchewan” represents my birthplace. And these are just a few of the many moments preserved within the piece. Through this work, I challenge the viewer to consider their own life as a collection of moments that, together, make up the whole. Some moments are more significant than others, but ultimately, the sum of all our moments—even the seemingly prosaic ones—creates a portrait of who we are today.

This 54" x 42" bottle cap mosaic features the World's Best Hockey Player, Connor McDavid. The artist created this piece during round 3 of the 2025 playoffs, when things were feeling incredibly tense for Oilers fans. It depicts McDavid in the zone, mouth-guard hanging out, in true focus as he looks for an open teammate to pass to. There are many Easter eggs hidden within: an "Oilers" cap, "Best Damn", caps to commemorate his 1000th assist, and much more.
