42" x 60" - 4,960
2 of 2. While all of my mosaics are one-of-a-kind, this Lancaster Bomber holds a particularly personal significance. Beyond depicting the aircraft, the piece weaves in subtle, layered elements—some hidden at first glance—that honour the client’s family history. The bomber represents an uncle who lost his life piloting a Lancaster during WWII. The moon is formed from a VW headlight, the cloud takes the shape of a Springbok, and in place of bombs, King Proteas drift below. These are just a few of the many symbolic elements within this 42" x 60" mosaic. While I no longer accept traditional family portrait commissions, I’m drawn to creating thoughtful, symbolic works that commemorate someone special. This mosaic honours a fallen family member while celebrating the client’s South African roots, lifelong love of VW vehicles, and more. It is a piece of art that will be passed on for generations to come.
